Salamander Designs Best of 2017 Award Winners

CEDIA 2017 is in the rearview and we are dashing towards year end. Before the memory of CEDIA fades from memory, the Salamander Designs team would like to call out and shine a light on some of our important partners who did stand-out work this past year. We honored these teams at CEDIA, but we want the world to know of them and their accomplishments. We are proud to keep such company and are happy to support great partners who are doing excellent work.

BEST  INSTALLATION – Audio Breakthroughs

Audio Breakthroughs installed a custom home theater project with hidden recessed JVC projector and Revel in-wall speaker system. Salamander Alex chairs provided the look the client wanted. Client wanted a home theater with comfortable seating but without the traditional theater chair appearance. The Alex chair provided the perfect solution. He loved the fit and finish, the excellent build quality and luxurious padding. The Alex fit into the room perfectly and the client was thrilled with the results!

BEST INTERNATIONAL INSTALLATION – High Class Technology

High Class Technology built this project on the outskirts of Medellin, with more than 900 square meters plus its own soccer field. The client and home owner, James Rodriguez, is a Colombian soccer player of the Bayern Munich team. This project featured a personalized home theater, inspired by the clients favorite character, Harry Potter. It has projection 4K, curved screen with the highest standards, Dolby Atmos sound, and of course two rows of Salamander chairs. With soft lighting, sound and motorized chairs, we create a space of comfort, technology and high-class design.

BEST SHOWROOM  Sound Concepts

It’s hard to tell with a state of the art, killer showroom featuring Salamander Designs seating, that Sound Concepts began in a small convenience store location with 3 employees, all still employed with the company today. It was from these early days that the foundation of values of hard work, customer service, and reinvestment was laid. Sound Concepts is known as a go-to integrator in the Northeast Arkansas area.

DEALER OF THE YEAR – ListenUp

You hear a lot of talk about “custom” systems in the A/V world these  days. Talk to ListenUp co-founders Walt Stinson and Steven Weiner about the history of the company, and you’ll find out that ListenUp was custom before custom was cool. “From the very beginning we delivered and set up the systems we sold, and made sure they were properly integrated into the room,” says Steven. “We were tremendously enthusiastic about the gear – and, more importantly, the music – and we wanted to make sure everything got set up right so it would sound right. We knew if we offered this level of attention and people got a superior experience from their systems, they would become repeat customers.”

REP OF THE YEAR – ELITE3PRO

Elite3Pro was established in the Fall of 2005 to provide superior product representation for the CEDIA channel. We recognized a need for representation that would best support the ever-changing technology landscape, specifically with the continuous convergence occurring between residential, commercial and IT sectors. Our ability to understand and manage education of this evolving industry allows for quality expansion and newly identified opportunities for all of our partners

Last week at the 50th CES Convention in Las Vegas, NV. Sony announced and unveiled The VPL-VZ1000ES Ultra-Short Throw projector 4K HDR home theater projector housed in a Salamander custom Chameleon cabinet. Because of the capability to project so close to the wall while providing outstanding video quality, this projector also maintains room integrity, no longer requiring a ceiling suspended or mid room installation. The integrated cabinet and projector is a seamless and stealthy solution. The installation is simple with no need to open the wall or ceiling to run cables. In addition, all supporting components including a speaker system can be enclosed in the cabinet to provide a turnkey solution.

Earlier in 2016 Sony engineers approached Salamander’s President and Founder, Salvatore Carrabba about customizing a cabinet for this new innovation. Sal rallied his own experience and team delivering this sleek , fully integrated modern design.

“At Salamander after over 20 years of creating innovative AV furniture we are very adept at providing collaborative solutions. This Ultra Short throw The VPL-VZ1000ES projector and cabinet is just one example of the forward thinking solutions we can offer.”

The projector and customized Chameleon cabinet will be available in late Spring of 2017.

cedia16-award-main1

Salamander Designs scored its fifth CE Pro BEST award at CEDIA 2016 for a sleek, functional and AV furniture solution solving Low Profile Cabinet.

The New Low Profile Cabinet with its narrow depth, sleek design, storage capabilities and assortment of finishes delivers innovative residential solutions. As mentioned in our prior blog, Thinking Big at CEDIA 2016 (those who can anticipate the solutions and be ready with products will be the first reap the rewards of new opportunities.

Salamander looks toward AV furniture solutions and implements them according to your needs. We are cognizant of the trends of downsizing, residential city/urban space restrictions and historic building walls. We understand the importance of maintaining wall integrity and the realities of TV large screen weight concerns. As a response to these trends and concerns, Salamander Designs created the low profile cabinet.

The cabinet’s 12-inch depth, sleek design, storage and easy installation solutions, also caught the attention of CE Pro and Innovation & Technology Magazine editors, resulting in two awards at last month’s conference.

The problems that this cabinet addresses are summarized below:

Problem
Solution/b>
Limited room space
The depth is 12 inches, providing more room space and a sleeker design.
Overheating of AV components
Heat sensor fans can be installed in the cabinet base providing intake up and out the top of the door panel, or up the screen mount as a chimney.
Flat panel screen requires wall mount with Questioning wall durability/adaptability (brick/historic plaster)or wall stability
Our integrated mounts for flat panel screens support the weight of the screen on the cabinet eliminating the need to penetrate wall integrity. Only 2 toggles bolts are required for panel tipping safety.
Insufficient space to install an audio receiver cable box or gaming station
Vertical 3-U rack allows equipment to be mounted and hung in any bay.
Design/door panels not coordinated with the over all room decor
The styles come in 6 different door panels.
Variable installations costs
Easy installation, eliminates the need to use, electricians, or other contractors.
